Find Ada County Booking Photos

Ada County jail mugshots are official booking photos that may appear with public jail roster, current-arrest, and warrant results. To find Ada County booking photos, start with the sheriff's custody tools, then use the public-records process when the image is not online or the booking is older. The roster is not a stand-alone photo gallery, and a booking photo is not proof of guilt. It is one jail intake field tied to a public custody or arrest record, subject to Idaho records rules and release limits.

Ada County Jail Mugshots

Ada County's public roster and Current Arrests report display booking photos as part of official result records. The photos are embedded in the public result page, and the official pages do not present a separate downloadable mugshot endpoint. The official tools are run through Ada County Sheriff's Office systems at apps.adacounty.id.gov. They are records tools, not commercial photo indexes.

The public image context changes by tool. The Inmate Roster image is tied to a person housed in Ada County Jail at the roster timestamp. The Current Arrests image is tied to a recent arrest report and can include arrest date, time, charge, statute, agency, severity, type, and status. The Warrant search image, when present, is tied to an active warrant record and should not be treated as proof that the person is currently jailed.

Ada County Jail is operated by the Ada County Sheriff's Office. The main jail houses adult pretrial detainees, sentenced jail inmates, warrant holds, return-to-custody holds, and selected Community Transition Center participants. Juvenile offenders are excluded from the public roster and warrant lists. For custody data beyond the booking photo, the broader roster workflow belongs on the Ada County jail inmate records page.

Find Ada County Mugshots

The official mugshot search starts with the Ada County Inmate Roster. It is free, does not require a login, and uses a last-name-prefix field. The roster says it lists people housed in Ada County Jail for criminal offenses as of the timestamp shown on the page. It updates every 24 hours, so recent status changes may not appear. The sheriff's notice also says inmate status can only be confirmed in person or by phone at 208-577-3000.

  1. Search the Inmate Roster by the first letter or first several letters of the last name.
  2. Use the Current Arrests report if the booking is new and may not have reached the 24-hour roster update.
  3. Search the Warrant page if the person may have an active Ada County warrant with an image attached.
  4. Use the ACSO public-records process when an older booking photo or nonpublished record is needed.

The Ada County Inmate Roster shows the last-name-prefix search that leads to current jail custody records and embedded booking photos.

Ada County jail mugshots roster search for booking photos

The roster is the right starting point for current custody, but it is not the only official Ada County source for recent booking images.

The Ada County Current Arrests report is often more useful for new arrests. It has filters for Last 5 Days, Last 24 Hours, and Last 4 Hours, and it can sort by Name, Age, Arrest Date, Status, and order. Because the main roster updates every 24 hours, Current Arrests may show a recent booking photo and arrest date before the main custody roster is easier to use.

Note: A blank roster search is rejected, and the public roster has no visible first-name, date-of-birth, facility, booking-number, or date filter.

Ada County Booking Photo Fields

Ada County jail mugshots appear alongside other identity and custody fields. The public roster result can show a booking photo, name, JID Number, age, arresting agency, charge count, severity, charge, type, bail, bail total, a nonbailable note, and a VINE registration link. It does not show full date of birth, home address, housing unit, pod, medical details, mental-health details, projected release date, or full court schedule.

FieldWhat It Shows
Booking PhotoEmbedded mugshot image shown in many official roster, current-arrest, and warrant results; the public fields do not describe multiple angles.
NameFull name, usually formatted last name first.
JID NumberAda County jail identifier, often shown as an eight-digit number with leading zeros.
AgeAge only; full date of birth is not publicly shown in roster records.
Arresting AgencyThe agency tied to the arrest, booking, or hold.
Charges and TypeCharge text with type values such as Criminal Charge, Warrant, Out of County Warrant, Return to Custody, Serving Time, or Hold.
BailDollar amount, Included, Not Bailable, or a total when release is an option.

Current Arrests adds fields the main roster does not show, including view filters, sort controls, city and state when listed, arrest date, time, status, statute, agency, severity, charge, and type. The public report can show status values such as I and O, but official definitions were not located. Do not infer release or custody from those letters without checking the official office.

Are Ada County Mugshots Public?

Ada County booking photos are created during jail intake and may be visible in official public systems, but the official materials do not identify an Idaho statute requiring Ada County to publish booking photos online. Idaho Jail Standards require inmates to be fingerprinted and photographed upon admission, and they require inmate records to include booking or intake records, court orders and records, photographs or digital images, fingerprints, property inventory, and account records. Public release is governed by Idaho public-records law and law-enforcement exemptions.

Key Statutes and Rules:

Idaho Code 74-102 covers public-records access, copying, and fees for records requests.

Idaho Code 74-103 covers agency response timing and denial procedure.

Idaho Code 74-105 supports law-enforcement exemptions for investigations, fair-trial concerns, and protected records.

Idaho Code 74-120 restricts use of public records as mailing, telephone, or electronic contact lists.

The Ada County Current Arrests report displays embedded booking photos with recent arrest records, charges, statutes, and time-window filters.

That official report supports recent-booking searches, while Idaho law still controls whether other records may be released or withheld.

Ada County Mugshot Limits

Ada County's public pages do not state exactly how long a mugshot stays on the roster after release. They also do not publish rules for prior or historical booking photos, image angle, image date, direct file download, or automatic removal after dismissal or expungement. The safest reading is that booking photos appear as part of many official public roster, current-arrest, and warrant records, not that Ada County maintains a separate mugshot gallery.

What is and is not public: Current adult jail and recent-arrest records may show booking photos. Juvenile records, open-investigation material, protected victim or witness information, fair-trial material, and investigative techniques may be withheld or redacted.

The roster notice also matters. It excludes juvenile offenders, updates every 24 hours, and says recent status changes may not appear. It warns that bail information is only for charges where release is an option, that some charges are not eligible for bail, and that jail status can only be confirmed by phone or in person. A mugshot should be read with those same limits.

Request Ada County Booking Photos

When a booking photo is not visible online, the official fallback is an Ada County Sheriff's Office public-records request. The ACSO public records page says Idaho Public Records Law gives people the right to request records created and maintained by the Sheriff's Office, while law-enforcement records can be restricted. ACSO accepts requests through the online Public Information Request form, by written request, by mail, or in person at the Public Safety Information Center.

  1. Search the Inmate Roster for current custody before filing a request.
  2. Search Current Arrests for the last 4 hours, 24 hours, or 5 days when the arrest is recent.
  3. Search Warrants if the image may be tied to an active Ada County warrant.
  4. Use the ACSO records process if the photo or booking record is not online.
  5. Provide the person's complete name and date of birth, which ACSO requests for individual records.
  6. Expect review for open investigations, victim or witness redactions, fair-trial concerns, juvenile limits, and statutory exemptions.

ACSO records questions route to 208-577-3012. The office lists its Public Safety Information Center at 7200 Barrister Drive, Boise, ID 83704. ACSO says requests usually take 3 to 10 business days and may involve a charge, with larger requests handled under a fee schedule. Exact official fee amounts for mugshot copies are not published in the official text available here.

The ACSO public records page is the official request channel for booking photos that are not answered by the online roster or current-arrest tools.

Ada County Warrant Images

The Ada County warrant search can show embedded mugshot images where available, but warrant images have a different meaning than roster images. The warrant page states that listed people have valid arrest warrants through the Ada County Sheriff's Office for traffic or criminal offenses as of the displayed timestamp. It says people with warrants are subject to arrest upon contact by law enforcement, but it also warns that recent status changes may not be reflected.

Warrant records can show a photo when available, name, age, warrant count, warrant number, issued date, severity, bond amount, charge or offense text, and bonds total. The page excludes juvenile offenders and warns that misuse of warrant information may create civil or criminal liability. Only peace officers can arrest someone on a warrant. Questions route to 577-3090 or 577-3091.

The Ada County warrant search is the official source for warrant-linked images and warrant details.

A warrant image should not be read as current jail custody unless the roster or jail phone line confirms custody.

Ada County Mugshot Removal

Official Ada County pages do not publish a stand-alone mugshot removal policy, a roster retention period after release, or an automatic removal rule after dismissal or expungement. That means a removal question should be handled through official record correction, sealing, expungement, or public-records channels rather than through private photo removal services. Commercial mugshot-publishing or pay-to-remove sites are not official Ada County sources and should not be used as a substitute for court or sheriff records.

When a criminal charge is dismissed, sealed, expunged, or otherwise restricted, the formal record issue usually starts with the court case. The Ada County Clerk handles court record access and sealed or exempt record procedures, while the sheriff controls jail records and booking materials. For the court side of a dismissal or record remedy, use the Ada County court records after jail arrest page and then contact the Clerk or a qualified attorney for case-specific steps.

State and Federal Photos

Ada County jail mugshots are county jail booking images. They are not the same as state prison photos, federal custody records, or immigration detention records. The Idaho Department of Correction Resident/Client Search covers people under IDOC jurisdiction, including prison, probation, and parole. IDOC results can show IDOC number, name, birth year, status, location, mailing address when available, and active felony listing. IDOC updates daily but warns location and status can change quickly.

Federal and immigration systems are different. The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present and shows identity, location, release, and status-style data, not county booking photos. The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is for immigration detention searches by A-number or biographical information. BOP and ICE locators do not generally publish federal mugshots in the way Ada County's jail roster publishes booking photos.

The IDOC Resident/Client Search is the official state locator for Idaho prison, probation, and parole status.

Use IDOC for sentenced state custody and Ada County tools for county jail booking photos.

Note: If a person leaves Ada County Jail for state prison, the county roster may stop helping while IDOC becomes the better locator.

Ada County Mugshot Use Limits

A booking photo is a public-record fact only when it is released through an official channel, and even then it is not a conviction. Idaho Code 74-120 restricts use of public records as mailing, telephone, or electronic contact lists. ACSO also warns that public jail, arrest, and warrant information should not be relied on for legal action. For legal status, check the court case, the Clerk, the prosecutor's filed charges, or the agency that holds the record.

The most accurate workflow is narrow. Use Ada County's roster for current adult custody. Use Current Arrests for recent bookings. Use Warrants for active warrant data. Use ACSO public records for older booking photos or records not visible online. Use iCourt for formal case status after charges are filed. Use IDOC, BOP, or ICE only when the person is in that separate custody system.

Important: Ada County jail mugshots should not be used for employment, credit, tenant, insurance, or other FCRA-regulated screening.
